| Description : | Manhattan Beachwear, LLC. is currently looking for a Fabric Development Associate. The ideal Fabric Development Associate is motivated, results oriented, ability to multi task and committed to team work. Position is Assistant to the Raw Material Purchasing Manager. Primary purpose of this position is to drive daily communications with mill/vendor partners to support the execution of the fabric development process. Communicating with our vendors in China is an essential funtion of this position. Please specify on your resume that you meet this requirment. Only Candidates that are able to Read, Write and Speak Mandarin will be considered. Responsibilities • Assist and coordinate with Raw Materials Purchasing Manager on fabric and trim research and development, sourcing, purchasing and management of sample yardage • Develop or re-source fabrics and trims within brand quality and price parameters • Collaborate with quality textile specialist for fabric testing and evaluation to ensure bulk fabric will meet business quality standards • Collaborate with agents, direct manufacturers and mills in conjunction with production planners on fabric and trims sourcing, quality and price negotiation • Maintain timely and accurate fabric chart and raw material checklist • Develop and maintain brand fabric and trim resource list and library • Collect, file and enter fabric-related details into applicable systems • Support fabric approval process through communication with appropriate partners and factories • Develop and maintain brand fabric and trim resource list and library Requirements: • 3+ years of experience in direct fabric and trim development • Bachelor's degree in textile technology or equivalent • In depth global fabric sourcing and technical textile knowledge • Strong fashion, color, fabric and trim sense • Clear understanding of dyeing, printing, and finishing techniques • Product knowledge through all phases of textile and garment construction • Strong networking, negotiation and business planning skills • Proficiency in MS Office suite • Strong verbal and written communication skills • Must Must be Fluent in Mandarin and English |
