Online Marketing Specialist

ONLINE MARKETING SPECIALIST

The Online Marketing Specialist creates, shapes, and produces promotional email and online campaigns in support of our products, events, and initiatives at O’Reilly Media, Inc. The Online Marketing Specialist will create relevant and targeted campaigns to increase our reach, engagement, and conversion metrics, and will be an expert at creating and Managing effective and appropriate email and online marketing campaigns, result analysis, and understanding customer behaviors. This position is located at our corporate headquarters office in Sebastopol, CA, and will report to the Sr. Online Manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Transform strategic business goals into specific email campaigns/newsletters/alerts/notifications and online campaigns.
• Strategize with the Online VP, Sr. Online Manager, and divisional Managers to ensure that the messaging is consistent with company guidelines.
• Develop, execute, analyze, and report on email and online marketing programs.
• Act as gate-keeper for all opt-in email from O'Reilly.
• Explore the latest online marketing trends and practices, and use this knowledge to develop relevant communications.
• Make use of relevant social media tools to publicize O'Reilly's products, events, and initiatives.
• Assists with other Online Marketing tasks and miscellaneous projects as necessary.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Extensive working knowledge of current email marketing best practices, rules, strategies, and tools
• Ability to work in a deadline-oriented environment with a strong attention to detail
• Ability to analyze data and make adjustments to improve results
• Knowledgeable about the mobile web and current trends
• Working knowledge of HTML and CSS
• Excellent communication skills - written, verbal, with the ability to write clear, concise, influential copy
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects under extreme time constraints
• Strong working knowledge of web usability and user experience concepts
• Ability to maintain creativity, flexibility, and motivation in a team environment
• Familiar with web analytics reporting systems such as SiteCatalyst and Google Analytics

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Four year degree in Business, Marketing, or Management, or related area of study, or a combination of relevant education and experience
• 2+ years experience in mid-level marketing role
• Detail and deadline oriented, with extensive hands-on experience in email marketing
• Working knowledge of HTML and CSS skills

No relocation for this position. No telecommuting. This is an onsite position only.
