Calvin Klein Underwear, a division of Warnaco Inc., has an exciting opportunity for a talentedFabric Researcher and Development Manager to join our team. Responsible for seasonal raw material development, translate raw material trends into company vision at the best cost , with the best supplier to ensure product meets business needs. Provide viable fabrications to design and product development that fit seasonal needs.

In addition, your primary responsibilities will include:
  • Responsibilities apply to CKU Men's and Women's with a specialty in women's intimate fabrics:
  • Conduct fabric research by reviewing competitor product, attending fabric fairs, meeting with mills and fiber suppliers to gather seasonal trend information and new technology.
  • Present fabric trends each season and identify new opportunities and updates to existing categories
  • Establish and maintain a raw material library
  • Maintain fabric database
  • Communicate upfront raw material requirements to mills / suppliers to ensure all raw materials meet needed end use requirements
  • Order and track all sample raw materials
  • Testing of raw materials in development IE: molding, shrinkage
  • Up front negotiation of costing and minimums


The ideal candidate will also possess:
  • A 4 year college degree in Textile Engineering or Textile Chemistry or Textile Technology
  • Five to Seven years Industry Experience in manufacturing (textile, apparel, or any cut & sew related business)
  • Textile Testing experience (should have 1-2 years minimum)
  • Ability to negotiate and communicate with a global vendor base
  • Process Improvement background helpful
  • Professional Membership into AATCC helpful, but not required
