FIELD VISUAL MERCHANDISER- LOS ANGELES



General Position Summary:

Support the Columbia Sportswear Company brand image at retail, including Concept Shops, Performance Fixtures, Brand Signage and Point of Purchase programs with CSC retail accounts.

Establishing and sustaining positive relationships with accounts through merchandising training, verbal and written communication and education of Columbia Sportswear Company is a priority.



Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities

This position reports directly to the Field Training Manager and also works with Marketing, Sales Management and Sales Representatives to positively affect sales of CSC product. Effective communication with the CSC Corporate office, RVM, Sales Reps and Retail Accounts is a key to the success of this position.


FVM position responsibilities include the following:

Install and maintain Concept Shops within assigned territory.

Manage category fixtures, brand signage and POP programs within assigned territory.

Implement CSC visual merchandising standards at the retail level, creating a consistent and positive representation of the CSC brand.

Conduct visual merchandising clinics within assigned territory, training retail associates on CSC merchandising standards and Concept Shop guidelines.

Submit CSC product and marketing information / feedback to CSC corporate, CSC sales reps and retailers.

Communicate current trends, competitive strategies and customer lifestyles to understand market needs.

Manage assigned territory’s travel budget, expenses and schedule rotation.



Secondary Functions

Maintain positive open lines of communication with all Columbia Sportswear management, staff and other departments in order to contribute to the smooth flow of information and efficient operation of the marketing department.

Perform other related duties as assigned.



Job Scope

An entry level position with high visibility requiring advanced communication skills. Position has high visibility due to direct impact of Columbia’s account relationships which therefore affects company sales.



Education and/or Experience

College degree in Marketing with an emphasis on Visual Merchandising or related field OR equivalent work experience and 1 to 2 years experience in the Merchandising field preferably in the retail apparel industry.
