Description
Design
Reporting to the Creative Director (based in London) and along side the Category Manger based in New York to produce designs for any given brief in accordance with the timetable
Work with agents and factories to develop designs from concept to confirmation sample
Conceptualise new footwear designs
Prepare design review presentations
Create technical packages to send to the Factories
Refine and finish footwear designs through multiple prototyping process
Specify trend relevant colour and material options
Create sample colour and material specification sheets
Follow development of all ranges and individual products
Communicate with the Factories to ensure that samples follow the agreed specification and are delivered on time
Ensure all final samples adhere to agreed price structure.
Constant communication with the Creative Director
Travel to the UK to present final quarterly collections.
Experience Required
Essential
Graduate in fashion, footwear, textile, product, graphic or industrial design.
Footwear related branded design experience.
Proven experience of providing fresh, relevant and innovative ideas with emphasis sports/lifestyle footwear.
Strong understanding of the sports/lifestyle footwear manufacturing process.
Technical product knowledge and strong sense of international market trends.
Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Microsoft Word and Powerpoint.
Excellent free hand drawing and rendering skills.
Broad knowledge of international sporting trends across all categories and genders.
Experience of International travel. Successful candidate must be prepared to have induction period of one month in the UK.
Desirable
Previous experience of dealing with Far East suppliers and agents
Experience of both genders of sports/lifestyle footwear design.
Specific Skills
Successful candidate should be organised, motivated, and able to demonstrate drive and initiative.
The Candidate should also have strong Presentation and communication skills (both on a one to one basis and to a group) with strong brand empathy.
Able to manage and work to deadlines as well as multi-tasking
Fashion conscious, trend spotter/setter, directional fashion flare tamed with commercial sense
Team player with International focus.
Good interpersonal skills, diplomatic and persuasive
Can-do attitude, working through obstacles.
Self-sufficient and comfortable working with a minimum of supervision
Personal stature that will inspire confidence through creative energy, drive and enthusiasm.
