Forever21 Fashion Apparel Pattern-Maker (Long Beach, CA)

Job Summary: Expertise in body proportions and knowledge of fabric to interpret the designers apparel sketches to develop a garment suited to the vision, while ensuring high level quality and fit. Liaison between the design and manufacturing groups, creating a specific clothing line.

KNOWLEDGE, skillS, qUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bilingual fluency in Korean and English. This is a MUST.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of pattern-making/garment construction/technical experience for a Contemporary Womens Apparel/Intimate Apparel Industry.
  • Fashion Degree in Technical Design/Pattern-making or Related required.
  • Excellent communication skills effectively communicate with the design team/technical team/vendors in Korean and English.
  • Strong knowledge of fabrics, garment construction, sewing, technical drawing, measuring and fitting.
  • Computer Skills: CAD programs, Microsoft Office Tools.
  • Ability to visualize the finished garment from a designers drawings, designs, and sketches.
  • Highly detail-oriented and fast-paced.
  • Solid understanding of production/product development process and fit technician skills.

Essential Functions:

  • Support the Technical Design and Fashion Design Teams to work on all product/categories (knits, wovens, etc.), specifically with Contemporary Womens Apparel.
  • Creates and constructs sets of fabric patterns or layouts, with excellent draping skills.
  • Examines sketches/samples and design specifications to ascertain number, shape, size, and fit of pattern parts. Able to check shrinkage and apply to the pattern and ensure good fit.
  • Marks finished pattern with garment size, section and style information.
  • Effectively communicate style lines, details and revisions with the design and technical team.
  • Conduct fittings on fit models.
  • Data entry/ Sale orders.
