Campus Recreation is a department within the division of Student Affairs that provides fitness, wellness, and recreation programs to the campus community through the operation and administration of the following: The UC Davis Activities and Recreation Center, Pavilion, Fitness and Wellness Programs, Intramural Sports and Sports Clubs, Equestrian Center, Craft Center, Outdoor Adventures, Youth Programs, Aquatics Program and the Cal Aggie Marching Band.
Davis
Provide instruction to Craft Center patrons for beginning, intermediate, and advanced classes in textiles. Classes include but are not limited to: crochet, knitting, quilting, misanga, sewing, spinning, weaving, and silk painting. Instruct students in the use and care of textile tools and equipment. Distribute, collect, and submit course evaluations. Clean up studio/lab after every class.

Recreation Program Instructors at the Craft Center provide evening and weekend instruction in specific craft techniques. Classes can vary from one 8 hour workshop to seven classes of 2 hours at time once a week.
Exposure to dyeing chemicals.
Work evenings and weekends.
Theoretical understanding and demonstrated skill in textiles to teach multiple levels of one or more classes in crochet, dyeing, knitting, quilting, misanga, sewing, spinning, weaving, and silk painting.

Knowledge of use and care of tools and materials associated with textiles as well as the procedures required to ensure strict standards of health and safety.

Communication skills to facilitate class discussion among a culturally diverse clientele and to use a variety of teaching aids.

Writing skills to provide course descriptions and reports associated with class(es) being taught.

The successful candidate will prepare test samples, readies equipment and conducts rudimentary tests under direction of laboratory supervisor and/or manager. The incumbent will coordinate projects, multiple laboratory operational activities and act as the point of contact between lab and other departments. Gymboree Associate Textile Designer (San Francisco, CA)

The Associate Textile/ Apparel Graphic Designer will be responsible for creating whimsical, novelty prints and graphics for the Girl product line. This person will support the graphics design process and work closely with the designer, merchandise manager, and production partner for the Girl apparel line. The Associate Designer will participate in pre-concept meetings with the design team to create well balanced, saleable lines. This person will shop the market and conduct creative research for new ideas and development processes. This person will also design original prints and artwork, and contribute ideas to design partner regarding color and placement. The Associate Designer will be responsible for re-coloring existing prints and artwork as well as be responsible for making recommendations of purchased artwork. This person will be responsible for producing millsheets for textiles as well as creating colorways and repeats. This person will also be responsible for technical instructions for factories/vendors to produce fabric prints. The Associate Designer will produce the millsheets for graphics as well as the technical instructions for factories/vendors to produce artwork. This person will make changes to prints and artwork and prepare legal copyright paperwork.
Job Requirements :
Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, Graphic Design, Illustration, or related field, plus a minimum of 3-5 years experience in the childrens retail/apparel design industry. Experience with a variety of print and graphic design techniques a plus. Must have strong organizational skills with the ability to troubleshoot problems. MAC skills required, specifically photoshop, freehand or illustrator. AVL a plus (or other proprietary CAD applications). Must enjoy working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with the ability to work independently as well as with a team.

• Works closely with Senior CAD Designer and Girls’ Design Director and handles issues of high complexity. 
• Acts as a technical resource for Design team by providing in depth expert knowledge in all CAD areas. 
• Responsible for creating computer generated prints, yarn dyes and embellishments for all categories of the girls’ line. 
• Presents CAD ideas to design team. 
• Responsible for preparing artwork packages that comply with production ready standards, providing well-defined recommendations to meet business requirements. 
• Works closely with fabric R&D and product development to assess potential technical issues before the artwork is completed. 
• Participates in preparation of visual displays for seasonal presentations. 
• Responsible for proactively maintaining seasonal color palettes. 
• Proactively identify opportunities and recommendations for increasing workflow efficiencies. 
• Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications:
• Undergraduate degree in Textile Design or other related field of study 
• 4-6 years related experience; fashion background a plus 
• In depth knowledge of U4IA CAD system/software/printers; General PC knowledge. 
• General expertise of print and textile designs, repeats, color matching and creation of colorways. 
• Awareness of product development from conceptualization to finished design for textiles.

    As a member of the Materials team, the Materials Analyst will be responsible for researching, development, and commercialization within a focused area of textile materials. You will be working with Materials Coordinators and RD&D teams, to collaborate and execute on seasonal developments that bring new and innovative materials and constructions, identifying and developing new technologies in fibers, constructions, finishes, and sustainable practices for your given focus area.     We are looking for an individual with a BA/BS Degree in Design (Apparel), Textile Science, Engineering, or related fields, a minimum of 7+ years apparel or textile experience plus 5 years minimum in related research or technical development are required. Knowledge of fiber and yarns, textile construction, dying and finishing, textile testing and evaluation and apparel manufacturing techniques, familiarity with material sourcing (lead times, minimums, capacity), product design/development, computer drafting, and research techniques, ability to manage projects from concept to commercialization and be accountable for the direction and execution. Knowledge of computer skills including MS Office, Adobe Illustrator, and Data management systems are necessary.
