Job Mission
Plan and purchase inventory to maximize in-stock levels, and inventory turn while minimizing overstocks. Work with Sourcing and Merchandising to identify risks and develop strategies for mitigating them.
Primary Responsibilities
Project sales and inventory for each season.
Placement of initial orders and reorders.
Analyze SKU sales performance to determine inventory liability.
Update demand forecasting system with vendor lead times and Safety Stock requirements.
Analyze Item Buy Plans daily to determine flow of merchandise to distribution center.
Analyze historical data and current trends to identify risks and opportunities by department and class.
Create pre-season sales, gross margin and inventory plans by SKU and class that support product strategies
Reconcile top-down to bottom-up class plans
Recap and analyze actual sales results to plan, and forecast in-season sales and inventories on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis.
Re-forecast sales and manage inventory for all basic styles to meet financial goals.
Manage and communicate division level markdown recommendations and strategies.
Participate in company and brand initiatives as appropriate.
Communicate financial results, forecasts, and action plans to manager and cross-functional team on a weekly basis.
Recommend strategy for unproductive inventory.
Work with merchandising to determine departmental SKU level sales projections and product assortments.
Oversee and ensure timely and accurate SKU/inventory data input into demand forecasting database.
Review catalog proofs, pagination and layout for areas of responsibility.
Identify and implement item curves where necessary.
Position will also include ownership of some reporting responsible weekly.
Must be able to clearly and concisely present analytical data and propose solutions in an organized.
Review item sales & receipt flow weekly and communicate out to team items performing above forecast.
Requirements/ Qualifications:
BA/BS Required.
3-5 years inventory management experience.
Able to build and maintain productive relationships with peers and cross-functional teams.
Flexible and adaptive to changing priorities.
Attention to detail and follow through.
Able to organize and prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
Demonstrates strong listening, written and communication skills.
Able to formally present business strategies and action plans.
Demonstrates logical analysis and problem solving skills.
Able to interpret current business results to identify key learning’s and develop future strategies.
Possesses a clear understanding of financial measurements including: sales, gross margin, inventory productivity measures such as weeks of supply (WOS), etc. and how to impact them.
Facility with personal computers, including the ability or aptitude to learn technical applications quickly.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
