Marketing Analyst

Summary:

The Marketing Business Analyst's primary responsibility is to help marketing control departmental expenses in line with the annual budget. The position must be able to assess expense trends and possible impacts, identify key expense drivers and develop forecasts. The analyst performs a variety of reporting including weekly and monthly expense roll-ups to the marketing team and key business partners as well as ad hoc analyses.

In addition, the analyst is responsible for collecting, coding and routing all marketing invoices to ensure proper accounting and project allocations. While the primary function of this role is budget management, this position will also provide ad hoc adminstrative support to the direct response team.

Essential Functions / Principal Responsibilities:

  • Reporting and analysis: Provide expense detail and roll-ups weekly and monthly to internal and key business partners. Analyze expenses for trends, drivers, and forecast, downloading PeopleSoft data and pivoting the information to provide specific slices of information (e.g., by time period, cost center, general ledger line, vendor, or project).
  • Invoice tracking: Ensure correct invoice coding for proper accounting and project allocation of expenses, in a timely fashion. This includes researching invoice payment history. Assign code to each marketing invoice in order to conduct detailed program, channel and product level analysis.
  • Project level analysis: provide expense information from Marketing invoices for project R.O.I. calculations as well as update R.O.I. models on an as-needed basis.
  • Travel budget coordination: Coordinate overall expenses and partner payments for co-op funded marketing activities to support the Travel business.
  • Administrative and budgeting support: Train Marketing personnel on using Fastlane, Excel, Access, Powerpoint, and PeopleSoft/Oracle, as well as consult on how to track expenses.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

    Required:

  • Knowledge of marketing analytic disciplines including Customer Research, Customer Data Analysis and Database Marketing.
  • Lead project teams and model working under tight deadlines.
  • Advanced knowledge of marketing principles, concepts,techniques and applications relevant to the field of promotion and advertising.
  • Written, visual and interpersonal communication skills,including proofreading and editing.
  • Knowledge of analytic or campaign management Software.
  • Strong mathematical skills, analytical/research skills and mastery of statistical techniques to transform raw data into insights.
  • Preferred:

  • Multivariate statistical analysis, including regression analysis, decision trees, cluster analysis and direct/database marketing analysis.
  • Ability to manage external vendors and contractors.
  • Experience, Work & Education

    Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in related area (BA/BS degree in business, statistics, computer science or related discipline) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Preferred:

  • 5 years marketing experience.
