Position : Merchandiser - Janie and Jack (Gymboree)

Core Roles : The Merchandiser will be responsible for developing and driving the product strategy, assortment, and financial performance goals for a Janie & Jack product category. The responsibility extends from pre-concept through final product stages. The Merchandiser will create, develop and buy the merchandise mix to support and define the brand, working with the DMM to evolve brand vision. With Planning partners, this person will strategically develop and execute financial plans by department, line, and classification. This individual will perform quarterly business reviews by department, line, and classification. The Merchandiser will develop, drive and support achievement of financial goals for assigned business category, including sales, gross margin and comp plans. This position will work with Production to drive achievement of IMU goals based on financial plans and work with Design, Technical Design, Product Development, Production, Brand Creative Services, Marketing, Web, and Visual Merchandising partners to achieve strategic product and financial goals for the department. S/he will work with Store teams to enhance understanding of our customers and address their needs. This individual will maintain high awareness of the customer, of competition relative to product quality/value relationship, and of fashion trends.Minimum Requirements :BA/BS with a minimum five years' experience in merchandising and/or product development. The ideal candidate will have proven ability to identify trends and strong track record for successfully driving a business. Specialty store experience with apparel is a must have. The successful candidate will be able to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment with the ability to work cross functionally.
