Technical Design

One of our alumni, Diane Gallagher, has alerted us to some excellent career opportunities at her company – 5.11 Tactical. (5.11 Tactical 4300 Spyres Way, Modesto, CA 95356). Check out their amazing website: http://www.511tactical.com/ The company specializes in superior products that enhance the safety, accuracy, speed and performance of law enforcement, military and firefighting professionals. Built on a foundation of durability, quality and value, 5.11 Tactical leads the industry in delivering functionally innovative gear, head to toe. The company was ranked #211 on the 2007 Inc. 500 — Inc. magazine’s annual ranking, by revenue growth, of privately-held, independent, U.S.-based companies. They have many positions open that would be perfect for a UCD grad! The open positions are in both product development and technical design of apparel and outerwear as well as hard goods such as footwear, packs, bag, gloves, and hats. (One of their hats was recently spotted on Prince William!). They are also looking for a person who understands the dyeing process to spearhead the standardization of their color management system. Our TXC/FPS programs provide the critical thinking skills to work in the areas of product and fabric development. Some interesting issues involve stain repellency, colorfastness, fit, protection, comfort, testing and certifications. Our TXC 171 is the perfect practice for a position at this company!Contact Connie Mortensen, Human Resource Director, ConnieM@511tactical.com regarding these positions. They started interviewing this week and are looking to hire soon.
