: | As our Considered Project Chemist, you'll be responsible for supporting/managing a variety of Considered Chemistry projects and/or programs. Your focus will center on materials, components, raw materials and how they can be applied innovatively to footwear/apparel/equipment while forwarding Nike and affiliate sustainability goals and helping maintain product compliance with strict legal requirements. You'll also manage projects and tasks for Nike and affiliate programs involving Restricted Substance List, Green Chemistry and wastewater programs. You'll research substances, materials, applications, and chemical legislation as it applies to finished Nike and affiliate product. You'll have an emphasis on evaluating and minimizing materials and process impact on the environment, workers and consumers. Furthermore, you'll analyze the current business practices and textile processes. You'll be expected to identify opportunities for improvements, recommend changes and at times manage tasks and/or projects. In addition, you'll also provide recommendations to reduce corporate risk around substances and/or production practices and waste generation. |

: | • Bachelor's degree in Textile Chemistry or Environmental Chemistry • 1 year of experience in chemical or textile chemical industry • 2 years' additional experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's degree • Technical knowledge of analytical techniques, environmental chemistry, organic chemistry and textile applications • Proficiency in Excel • Domestic and international travel approximately 20% of the time • Extended working hours may be required on occasion • Environmental testing/program experience is strongly preferred • Chemistry QA/QC background is preferred • Data management experience is preferred • Proficiency in Access is preferred • Experience with polymers is preferred Posted by Mary Wu |
